Hiding During Meds

This is old news. A couple of times when I picked Bean up for his nightly medicine, Grizzly would freeze like a statue because he saw I was busy with Bean. But as soon as I'd look away, he'd dash for a hiding place.Like I mentioned a couple of days ago, though, he'd never do this anymore. Instead he knows after medicine time come the cookies, so he'll always be out waiting for them.

Boop Greeting

The pigs don't usually stand still for pets or ear scratches. Sometimes they like the ear scratches, especially when they're busy eating. But usually I think it reminds them too much of being picked up, which always scares them at first. But a nose-boop they'll usually participate in.I don't know if they get it or they're just confused. But at least they don't mind it.

Medicinal Emotional Support

When we first started giving Beanie his heart medicine, Grizzly had a course of antibiotics that started at the same time. So of course we gave them both cookies. But that meant, even though Grizzly finished his course, he still gets a cookie whenever Bean gets medicine. He knows it too. He's always ready and waiting when we put Bean back in the cage.

Fluffy Bum

Grizzly still has a little twist in his fur from when he used to rinse it so often. But the most surprising thing is how fluffy he was right after we cleaned him. He's usually got wiry, scratchy fur, but it was soft and fluffy right where we used all that lotion and soap.I'm glad his fur is stiffening back up, though. It's his special characteristic.

Degreasing

There are two recommended ways to clean a grease gland: coconut oil and dish soap. We didn't have any coconut oil, but we did have piggy shampoo to follow the dish soap up with, so that's the route we went. The soap did break up the clumps and get him mostly clean. But not completely, and we were afraid to try a second time because the soap is probably hard on his skin. He was still rinsing regularly. So I finally found some coconut oil for him. Glad I found it, because that would have been a weird one to explain to a store associate. Even though it got him clean, it still took a couple weeks for him to get out of the habit of rinsing.
