Stripes
We have four snails, Stripes, Spotty, Dotty, and Raven. We were shocked one day when we discovered Stripes apparently tried to go visit the pigs. All of our snails are nerite snails, which do actually have a gill and a lung. And the tank isn't completely enclosed at the top, there is a gap in the lid that the snails could get out of. But no snail had ever left the tank before. They need to stay moist, so when they do leave the water they tend to stick to the wet glass just above its surface.
Who knows what Stripes was trying to do, but he didn't actually make it all the way to the cage. We found him upside down halfway across the two feet between the tank and the cage. Maybe he was coming down the side of the tank and realized his mistake, and just tried to let go and drop into the water... But instead dropped into the hay mess on the floor around the cage.
