Barbs

As mentioned before, our molly fish are very prolific breeders. Even though we try to constrain the tank to all females, we end up missing some males once in a while and so they are still breeding every few months. Which means we have to take regular trips to the fish store to donate the babies to avoid overcrowding our tank. Unfortunately our local fish store (or LFS as they call it in the hobby) is closed for refurbishment, so we had to find a new one. We went there to donate some babies and ended up coming home with new fish!

We saw these snakeskin barbs and thought they were so cool we just had to give them a try. Our water might be a tiny bit hard for them, but all of the other tank parameters were perfect, so we thought they might like the tank overall. So far so good, and they get along well with the other species. Plus they are mid water fish, so they don't compete for space with the others who are either at the top or bottom most of the time.
