The Deal
It's funny to me how strong the pigs' instincts are. No matter how much they trust you, and no matter how much they enjoy lap time or ear scratch, they're still so afraid of being picked up.
Even big, tough Fuzzy. He finally got used to the idea that he'd get ear scratches in the evening and he'd actually run and out wait for them. And he also really enjoyed his lap time, lying peacefully on his back. But if you went from "scratch position" to try to lift him up, he'd definitely try and run away. And suddenly right now he's not even open to ear scratches any more. But I'm working on that.
